  • Markets: the six core markets Etsy names in its 2025 annual report (US, UK, Germany, France, Canada, Australia; Etsy’s own definition of its core markets, not a ranking of buyers by country; US buyers made up 74% of sales) plus Italy, Spain, the Netherlands and Ireland, European markets where Etsy runs a localized site. Etsy doesn’t publish a ranking by country.
  • Dates are calculated from a rule every year (for example, Thanksgiving is the fourth Thursday in November and Black Friday the day after); each country and day has a cited source in the app’s key-date catalog.
  • When several markets celebrate the same day on the same date, it’s shown once with the countries listed.
  • The suggested prep day is 8 weeks before the date; this is Filizly’s prep rule, not an Etsy rule.

In 2026, buyers in these 10 markets celebrate 35 key dates on different days, 112 country dates in total. Mother’s Day alone falls on 4 different dates.

Why does Mother’s Day differ by country?

Countries celebrate on different days: in the UK and Ireland it’s the Sunday three weeks before Easter, in Spain the first Sunday in May, in France the last Sunday in May (the first Sunday in June when that’s Pentecost), and in the US, Canada, Australia, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands the second Sunday in May.
